Acceptance of “5 MW Wind Turbine Localization” Project

Recently, the “5MW Wind Turbine Localization” project of the Beijing Science and Technology Commission Science and Technology Plan jointly undertaken by Sinovel, Tsinghua University and China Electric Power Research Institute passed the evaluation and acceptance of the expert group. The 5MW wind turbine developed by the project has been successfully hoisted and connected to the grid for full power generation in the second phase of the Shanghai Donghai Bridge offshore wind farm in 2011, and has formed an annual production capacity of 20 sets of 5MW offshore wind turbines.
According to reports, the project has been implemented since January 2010, from "5MW wind turbine development and industrialization key technology research", "grid-friendly 5MW wind turbine key technology research" and "high-power wind turbine low voltage ride through test technology" Research and standard setting" and other three aspects of research work. The project completed 4 technical research reports, published 15 papers, applied for 11 patents, and included 3 invention patents.
As the host of the project, Sinovel has undertaken technical research on the topic of “Key Technology Research for 5MW Wind Turbine Development and Industrialization”. During the R&D process, Sinovel Wind Power developed a 3-blade, horizontal-axis, pitch-variable, double-fed 5MW wind turbine with independent intellectual property rights. The localization rate of the unit exceeded 85%.
