On December 4th, the Ministry of Science and Technology of Qinghai Province organized relevant experts to evaluate the results of the “Qinghai Lake Micro-grid Vanadium Battery Control Technology Research” project.

Vanadium battery is a new type of high-efficiency liquid energy storage battery. It has the advantages of high charge and discharge conversion efficiency, long service life, large scale, safety and reliability, etc. It has become a new type of energy storage technology. In Qinghai Lake (3,200 meters above sea level), the project relies on the wind and light storage micro-grid system to study the system's 20kWh vanadium battery energy storage control technology, automatic switching of liquid flow pump and frequency conversion control technology, realizing any adjustable operating mode and online Monitoring has improved the safe and stable operation of the Qinghai Lake Microgrid system. By studying the negative correlation between temperature and flow rate of vanadium liquid, a self-learning curve fitting technique was used to achieve variable decoupling and independent control. The influence of temperature on the charging and discharging characteristics of vanadium battery was solved, and the storage stability of the system was improved. . The research of the project has broken through the key technologies for the application of vanadium batteries in high-cold areas, and provided technical support for the large-scale energy storage application of vanadium batteries for large-scale solar power stations in cold regions.
