Among them, 57,000 transmissions were produced in April, with monthly sales of 61,229 units, and new historical breakthroughs.
Strong market demand
A few days ago, the Chairman of the Fast Group, Li Dakai, admitted in an exclusive interview with this reporter in Beijing that from January to April this year, the production and sales of Fast Transmission reached a record high, exceeding his expectations. Now, the company has set foot in full power and all production equipment has been put into use, striving to meet market demand.
The good market performance of Fast Transmission is based on the quality of the product itself and the good brand image. In addition, it also benefited from the strong demand for China's heavy truck market this year. From January to February of this year, although there are adverse factors such as snow disasters, most mainstream heavy truck manufacturers have a certain increase in sales. From March to April, the heavy truck market ushered in the first sales peak of the year, and the sales of major heavy truck manufacturers increased significantly.
“The impact of the implementation of the National III emission standards on July 1 and the ban on sales of the National II model, coupled with the gradual increase in truck prices, led many consumers to consume ahead of schedule, resulting in a significant increase in sales of heavy trucks and a higher-than-expected increase in the heavy truck transmission market. In the first half of the year, the market will continue to be hot in the first half of the year, said Li Dakai.
July 1 this year is the turning point, after which the market will be deserted. Li Dakai told reporters: “Last year I predicted that the development of the heavy truck market will slow down in the second half of this year and it will be high and low before the whole year. Now, this trend is even more obvious. It is estimated that 2/3 of commercial vehicle sales in the whole year will be In the first half of the year, heavy truck companies must be prepared, and we will formulate response strategies in response to changes in the market.†Fast this year focused on the first half of this year and strives to sell 300,000 heavy-duty transmissions in the first half of the year. 150,000 sets.
Will not shift cost pressures to OEMs
At present, "price increase" is one of the most mentioned terms used by the truck industry and related parts and components industry. Affected by factors such as the price of steel products and rising labor costs, some truck companies have raised their prices. Many parts and components companies also said that the cost increase rate is too large, and companies cannot afford to raise prices. However, there are also a few companies that will not raise prices. Fast is one of them.
"Right now, raw material prices, we and the vehicle factory, under the huge cost pressure. But Fast promised that it will not significantly increase the transmission price, the cost pressure is passed on to the host plant." Li Dakai said firmly.
Since the end of last year, steel prices have risen several times. Transmission companies use large amounts of steel. Fast has used more than 100,000 tons of steel every year. The increase in cost has been very large, and it has not shifted downstream. How can companies digest it? When a reporter asked questions, Li Dakai answered that initially he had also considered increasing the cost through price increases, but in the end he decided not to increase prices, mainly based on two considerations:
The first is that considering the automaker's own cost pressure is very large, it does not intend to increase its burden. “Being a company and being a human being, as the leading company in China's heavy-duty transmission industry, we must take responsibility at this critical moment and play a positive guiding role for the industry,†he said.
The second is that steel prices are not a good thing, nor are they completely bad. It is entirely possible for companies to become pressure-driven as a way to spur their own efforts, improve their internal strength, strengthen their physical fitness, and increase their competitiveness. Fast will digest some of the cost pressures by improving processes, designing, and strengthening management.
Force bus transmission market
Last year, the Fast Group produced and sold heavy-duty transmissions with more than 430,000 units. Its annual sales volume has leapt to the top in the world, and its share in the domestic heavy-duty transmission market with more than 8 tons increased to 86%. When a company already occupies an absolute advantage in a certain market segment, it will increase its market share and space will become increasingly limited. Therefore, Li Dakai proposed that this year is a "new year of entrepreneurship," and Fast will actively explore new market growth points.
At this year's Beijing Auto Show, Fast has exhibited 11 new transmission products developed independently. Among them, the new passenger car transmission new products were placed in a prominent position. The two single-casing and double countershaft transmissions have features such as small center distance, small size, light weight, and reasonable ratio of speed ratios, which can realize various manipulation forms and are applicable to various roads and buses. Li Dakai told reporters that in the past, Fast also produced passenger car transmissions, but it was not the flagship product. This year, Fast has made a decisive effort in the passenger car transmission market. It is understood that several mainstream bus manufacturers have already discussed cooperation with them.
After visiting the Beijing Auto Show, Li Dakai felt deeply: “This year's Beijing auto show has two special themes: technology and environmental protection. This is very instructive for companies in formulating development strategies. Next, Fast will strive to improve the fuel economy of its products. At the Beijing Auto Show, Fast also exhibited two new 16-speed transmissions. This is the result of several years of research and development by Fast. Li Dakai said: "These two 16-speed transmissions are prepared for the future. It is expected that this market will develop three years later.
