Germany has implemented E10 ethanol gasoline since January 1, 2011

Germany has announced that since January 1, 2011, Super E10 ethanol gasoline (10% ethanol-gasoline blend) has been introduced and refueled at more than 14,000 gas stations. Before that, German biofuels contained only 5% ethanol.

The German Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) estimates that 90% of German cars can use E10 ethanol gasoline.

BMU believes that gasoline containing higher amounts of ethanol can reduce the impact of carbon emissions on the environment and can also reduce dependence on depleted petroleum reserves. This move will help Germany achieve EU directives, reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the EU by 60% from 2018
