As the world's leading supplier of turbocharged technology, Honeywell Turbo Technology will launch over 100 new turbocharged applications in 2014, involving more than 20 innovative technologies. These new applications will be adopted by Honeywell's global light passenger and commercial vehicle customers, covering a wide range of engine types including gasoline, diesel, natural gas and hybrid. Among them, the Chinese market will launch about 25 new applications to meet the strong demand from the diesel engine and gasoline engine market.
Terrence Hahn, president and CEO of Honeywell Transportation Systems Group, said: "Honeywell's technology roadmap is actively promoting Fiat's current and future engine strategies, bringing fuel to the market more efficiently and driving more. Cars with fun In the face of the needs of the global automotive market, which is both energy-saving and emission-reducing without affecting driving performance, engine miniaturization and turbocharging are extremely effective solutions, and we can see from the continuous introduction of a large number of turbocharged products each year. In recognition of the business value of turbocharged vehicles, Honeywell is committed to providing differentiated benefits to global customers, including Fiat, to help them develop more exciting and full driving skills. The new models of fun, at the same time, can also allow the majority of owners to extend the interval between two refuelings."
Honeywell expects that the global turbocharger market will continue to grow, and the market penetration rate is expected to increase from 31% in 2013 to 38% in 2018. In view of the high popularity of diesel engines, Europe is still leading the world in turbocharger technology applications. With the promotion of gasoline turbocharging technology, the coverage of turbochargers in the European market can reach about 67% by 2018. In the Chinese market, turbocharged market coverage is expected to increase from 22% in 2013 to 33% in 2018, thanks to the active adoption of turbocharger technology in the gasoline engine market. In North America, new cars equipped with turbochargers are expected to reach 31% of total car sales in that year in 2018, and India will reach 53%.
It is understood that the innovative technologies that Honeywell will bring to the market in 2014 include: new ball bearing designs for improved transient response and energy efficiency; flow control valves optimized for gasoline engines and applications in diesel engines for enhanced driving Variable cross-section technology for performance; new sensors that improve engine integration capabilities; improved casting and material processes without compromising costs to allow turbochargers to operate over a wider temperature range; and can improve turbines and New aerodynamic design of compressor wheel speed error.
