On May 24, the Ministry of Education organized the Scientific and Technological Achievements Appraisal Conference of Key Technology and Application of Pressure Fluctuation Control and Energy Saving in High-flow Double-suction Centrifugal Pumps in Beijing . The appraisal committee unanimously approved the appraisal. This result was co-operated by six institutes such as our school, and the team of Professor Wang Fu-jun from Water College presided over this project.

Double suction centrifugal pumps are widely used in agricultural irrigation, inter-basin water diversion, urban water supply and other fields, especially in large-scale irrigation projects in northern China and long-distance high-lift water diversion project, almost all using large-flow double suction centrifugal pump. However, the large-flow double-suction centrifugal pump is generally pressure pulsating outstanding operating stability, high energy consumption and other issues. Our school cooperates with China Irrigation and Drainage Development Center, China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research, Shanghai KSB Pump Co., Ltd., Shanghai Liancheng Pump Group Co., Ltd. and Shandong Shuanglun Co., Ltd. to reduce pressure pulsation, improve operation stability and broaden High efficiency zone as the main purpose. The related research work is carried out by theoretical analysis, numerical simulation, hydraulic model test, field test and pump station application. The calculation model and numerical solution of pressure pulsation in double suction centrifugal pump are put forward Pressure pulsation monitoring method and evaluation system, a hydraulic design method based on alternating blade loading technology was constructed, and engineering measures to reduce pressure pulsation and hydraulic loss were put forward. The research results in the Yellow River pumping station widely used.
