It is understood that China has started construction of UHV projects since 2006, and a number of lines have been completed or under construction. As of the end of November this year, two UHV AC projects (Jindongnan-Nanyang-Jingmen UHV AC pilot demonstration project, Anhui-Huadong-Shanghai UHV AC transmission demonstration project) have been completed within the jurisdiction of SGCC. UHV DC (Xiangjiaba - Shanghai UHV DC Project, Jinping - Sunan UHV DC Project); there are three UHV projects under construction (North Zhejiang - Fuzhou UHV AC Project, Xiluodu - Zhejiang UHV DC Project , Hami - Zhengzhou UHV DC Project); another three UHV AC project and two UHV DC project has been made of "road." Within the jurisdiction of China Southern Power Grid, two UHV DC projects have been completed (Yunnan-Guangdong UHV DC Project, Yunnan Pu'er-Guangdong Jiangmen UHV DC Project).
UHV operating practices show that the development of UHV plays an important role in developing clean energy, changing the mode of energy development and improving energy supply security.
UHV has become an important carrier of clean energy development in China. 80% of China's hydropower resources are distributed in the southwestern regions such as Sichuan and Yunnan. Wind energy is mainly distributed in the "Three Norths" in North China, Northwest China and Northeast China. The large-scale concentrated solar power generation is mainly distributed in the western and northern deserts, Gobi desert. The distance between these areas and the load center in the middle and east regions is generally 800-3000 km, while that of UHV AC and DC lines is more than 1,500 km and 3,000 km, respectively. The construction of UHV power grids has enabled large-scale and long-distance transportation of various clean energies and promoted the efficient and safe utilization of clean energy.

Relying on UHV innovation practice, the domestic electrical equipment manufacturing enterprises took the lead in mastering the core technologies of UHV complete equipment manufacturing in the world, possessed the capabilities of mass production and independent innovation, remarkably improved the manufacturing level, fully realized the industrial upgrading and formed the core Competitiveness.

The total exports of products above 500 kV have reached 10 billion yuan with an annual growth rate of more than 40%.
