The “Kylinâ€, the largest diameter composite earth pressure balance shield machine in China, began to be dispatched at the construction site of the southwestern railway line of Taiyuan. The shield cutter has a diameter of 12.14 meters, a length of 135 meters and a weight of 2,800 tons. It marks a series of key technologies in the design and manufacture of the super-large diameter earth pressure balance shield.
According to the person in charge of the China Railway Sixth Bureau project, the project is the first super-long composite stratum earth pressure shield construction tunnel in China. The shield tunneling complex is complex, and it has successively crossed the composite stratum, full-section large-diameter pebble stratum, silt and silty clay layer. It is the most complicated breakthrough in the large-diameter earth pressure balance shield tunneling formation in China. The shield machine will continuously drill 4.85 kilometers, which greatly exceeds the maximum excavation distance of the domestic large-diameter earth pressure balance shield machine. It is a breakthrough and attempt of the new construction method of urban railway tunnels in China. Â
The southwestern ring road of Taiyuan is an important part of the Taiyuan railway hub planning. It is connected with the existing lines of Taiyuan City to form the Taiyuan Ring Road Railway. Taiyuan Huancheng Railway and Taiyuan Metro will jointly form a perfect rail transit network in Taiyuan.
