China has become the largest market for the German machine tool industry

According to statistics, in 2012, the number of machine tools imported from Germany by the Chinese machine tool market has exceeded the United States by a factor of two. The output value reached 2.4 billion euros, an increase of 14% year-on-year. China has become the largest market for German machine tool manufacturing.

The machine tools imported by China are mainly high-end and mid-range CNC machine tools. Although the total demand for machine tools in the Chinese market has been reduced last year, the proportion of high-end and mid-range machine tools in the total demand is increasing. In addition, compared with foreign advanced products, most domestic high-middle-end machine tools have gaps in performance, quality, especially operational reliability, accuracy stability, and maintainability. As a result, last year's machine tool imports did not decline, but increased slightly (all The year-on-year increase in each period fluctuates within 6%.

In 2012, China’s machine tool import volume was US$ 13.42 billion, an increase of 2.11% over the previous year, and the average unit price increased by 5.45%. Among them, 49,800 sets of imported processing centers amounted to 5.651 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 16.19%, accounting for 42.1% of the total imports of machine tools. About 70% of machine tool imports come from Japan, Germany, and Taiwan, and other sources of imports are Korea, Italy, the United States, and Switzerland.

It is understood that at the "2013 China (Nanjing) International Metal Processing Exhibition" to be held in Nanjing, China on October 14th, Ba Fuzhou will display its most advanced machine tools, automobiles, and industrial automation control technology products. The Bavarian state is one of the regions with the strongest industrial innovation in the European Union. Its high-end equipment manufacturing industry accounts for more than 1/3 of Germany's production and sales.

Lin Guofu, president of the China Machine Tool Tool Association of Jiangsu Province, pointed out that equipment manufacturing industry is a powerful driving force to support and lead the global economic development. The high-tech equipment developed by China will compete with advanced products from Germany, Switzerland, Italy and other countries. The problem of overcapacity of low-end products needs to be solved, and at the same time, more domestic machine tools are expected to improve their competitiveness as soon as possible to replace imports.

According to Lothar Horn, chairman of the Precision Tool Association of the German Federation of Machinery and Equipment Manufacturers, the high-end equipment manufacturing industry is the focus of China's industrial development strategy and the German industry attaches great importance to the exchanges and cooperation with China.
